Townsquare Media and RCR Homes, “Your Crossroads Builder”, would like to take a moment to say Thank You to all the Heroes Behind the Badge.  We want to say Thank You to all the police officers, sheriff’s deputies, corrections officers, detectives, parole officers, probation officers, SWAT team members, traffic cops, police supervisors, law enforcement managers, fire fighters, EMS personnel and police chiefs.

This week we would like to feature  Liza Trujillo. She has never really had a nickname but every time she tells her name to someone they always say " Minnelli" and she would bet on that. Liza's best memory as a child was spending summers in Corpus with her  aunt and cousins. Her favorite music artist is Gwen Stefani. She enjoys going to concerts but in a few weeks she will be going to the best concert ever in  Woodlands to see and meet Gwen Stefani. Her favorite local place to eat is Buffalo Wild Wings. She has a malitpoo named Lily.  Liza has been in law enforcement for 13 years with 7 of them being a Deputy with Victoria County Sheriffs Office. Liza got into law enforcement because her father became a Police Officer/reserve when she was younger so that had some influence on her decision on becoming a police officer. September 11th had a major influence on her also becoming a police officer because she wanted to be apart of a group who put others before themselves. Helping people in her community just gives her the biggest feeling of satisfaction and gives her a purpose. It is a rewarding and challenging career she told us.  Her father and her went into the Police Academy together. She was glad because it brought them closer. Liza wants the community to know the Officers/Deputies of Victoria work hard to serve and protect the citizens in this community.  She is proud to be apart of the blue family.

Hilary Kristynik nominated Liza. Here is what she told us:

I was honored to work with her in the program DARE in high school with Officer Kenneth Wells. They were extremely great and they always put others first. She has become great friends and you see her at all community events on and off the job protecting the community. She is a true asset to our community and I would love for her to be recognized for her hard work and dedication to this community .

If you know of someone who deserves to be honored please fill out the brief questionnaire below. Each week our station will be honoring a law enforcement person on air.  Heroes Behind the badge is brought to you by Townsquare Media and RCR Homes Your crossroads builder.
