While its not a national holiday, today is the birthday for the parody master, Weird Al Yankovic. While it is true that he does in fact have a real name, Alfred Matthew "Weird Al" Yankovic will forever be just Weird Al to me. And this is a good day to remember some of your favorite parodies he has done.

There are a lot of choices for favorites from his starting album in '83, "Weird Al Yankovic" to his latest album from 2017, "Squeeze Box." Take some time today and think about your favorite parody he wrote. While you're at it, take the time to sing it out loud. I know there are several of Weird Al parodies that I prefer over the original version of the tune and will occasionally sing the Weird Al version over the playing of the actual version of the song.

For instance, while American Pie by Don McLean is playing on the radio I'll be singing a different song instead. And even if I don't know all the words, I'll still be hearing the Weird Al version of a lot of songs even though the original version is playing. Such as Iggy Azalea's Fancy, but as that is playing I'll be hearing Weird Al singing Handy.

So, Happy Birthday to Weird Al Yankovic and thanks for all the laughs.
