As if helping the Houston Astros with the World Series and earning the team an MVP trophy weren't enough, the second baseman has been named the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year award.

Editors and news directors from across the country voted Altuve the honor beating New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady 715-646.

Altuve is a 5-time All-Star and he led the majors with a .346 batting average and the American League in hits with 204, his 4th straight season to do so. Altuve also had 24 homers and 81 RBIs.
