Dow / DuPont Merger Coming Soon?

Two of the largest chemical corporations in the world and with operating plants in the Victoria area are deep in merger talks which could result in an upcoming official statement announcing the merger. Dow Chemical and DuPont, both employers in south Texas, are reportedly deep in negotiations for this possible deal.

A merger could be announced very soon and it is rumored by the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg that there could be a three-way breakup of the combined company.  A deal hasn’t yet been finalized and the talks could still stop at this point. Both companies have had recent tumultuous business pasts but have emerged in the post financial crisis with adequate results. Both Dow and DuPont are well known names in the chemical industry.

In the Golden Crescent region Dow and DuPont employ approximately 680 people all related to the petrochemical industry.
