Initial news reports implicated Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Lucky Whitehead in a shoplifting case in Virginia but, despite that turning not out not to be the case after all, he remains released from the team.

Whitehead, a 3rd year veteran was cut from the team over an incident his agent said was mistaken identity, and that turned out to be true. Cowboys management decided to stick with Whitehead's release.

Speaking at a news conference, head coach Jason Garrett said the team felt it was in both Whitehead's and the team's best interest to continue in that direction. Was Whitehead considered a player that is followed by trouble? That may be the case. Just last week, the player was allegedly the victim of a dog kidnapping. According to published reports, Whitehead said his dog named 'Blitz' was held for a $20,000 ransom. The report goes on to say the dog was returned along with some other stolen items after an undisclosed amount of cash was paid.
