Anybody remember the USFL? How about the XFL or the World Football League? These professional football leagues had some success but, ultimately met their demise. A group with a lot of NFL successes between them are behind the Alliance of American Football, a league that is supposed to be ready for play after next year's Super Bowl.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Bill Polian, Charlie Ebersol, the son of longtime NBC Sports head Dick Ebersol, and others are all involved in the new league.

8 teams will be in the league but the cities have yet to be named. According to a published report, teams will be made up of players cut from NFL teams after preseason, undrafted college players, former players who want to return to pro ball, and free agents from the Canadian Football League among others.

The structure of contracts will be different from the NFL, and there will also be a few key rule changes, no kickoffs, and a change in 2-point conversions.

So what do you think, will you watch? I am a fan of the game and I did watch all the other leagues when they were playing, and there was some quality football. I guess the question is, what cities will be represented. CBS will be airing the games on network television, and it will also be available on a number of free online outlets.

Will you be watching?
